As part of the efforts to renew the collaboration between the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Cape Coast (UCCSMS) and Anhui Medical University (AHMU), a delegation comprising Prof. Kingsley Kwadwo Asare Pereko, Vice Dean of the School of Medical Sciences and Dr. Faustina Halm-Lai,  Head of the Department of  visited AHMU from  18th to 21st November 2024.

The delegation was warmly received by Prof. Li Yu, Director of Provincial Key Lab of Zoonoses, who provided an overview of AHMU’s collaboration with UCC. In her presentation. Prof. Li Yu expressed strong relationship between the two institutions and highlighted the successful training of five postgraduate candidates under the agreement. She assured the delegation of  AHMU’s commitment to renewing the agreement and ensuring its full implementation.  

Prof. Yongqiang Yu, Vice President of AHMU also met with the delegation and delivered a presentation on the current state of the relationships. He acknowledged UCC as a matched African university during the “China-Africa 100 Universities Cooperation Plan” forum, in July 2024 and praised UCC’s achievements including its ranking as the number one university in Ghana and West Africa. Additionally, he showcased AHMU’s advanced facilities for teaching. research and service provision. In response, Prof. Kingsley Pereko and Dr Halm Lai presented on the progress of UCCSMS’s engagement with AHMU, emphazing the milestone achieved and areas for improvement under the agreement. Prof. Yongqiang Yu reaffirmed AHMU’s dedication to strengthening the partnership and renewing the agreement.
