UCC Hosts Strategic Partners from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, Germany

The Office recently welcomed strategic partners from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS), Germany for a series of collaborative activities aimed at strengthening international ties and expanding opportunities for students and staff. 

The delegation arrived on Monday 1st December and departed on Friday 5th December, 2025. Members of the delegation were Dr Rahel Hutgens (Head of the International Office), Sebastian Bücklers (Student Services), Stephanie Cramer (Program Coordinator German, Language Centre), Sandra Kärcher (Program Coordinator German, Language Centre), and Sally Brammer Outgoing Students and Partnerships

Key Activities During the Visit
The delegation engaged with the Office staff to discuss future collaborations and partnership strategies and also held a workshop on internationalisation at H-BRS, sharing insights and best practices while learning about similar activities at UCC.

The delegation also had the chance to take a tour of campus tour showcasing UCC’s facilities and vibrant academic environment. They also visited a number of Departments to explore areas of academic cooperation.

There was a meeting with students participating in the online German language class at UCC and participation in the dynamic German Club activities.

They held an Information session for UCC students and staff on study abroad opportunities at the Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang auditorium on 3rd December, 2025. There were insightful presentations on exchange programs and scholarships, practical guidance on application processes, and networking moments with peers and faculty passionate about international education. The event underscored UCC’s commitment to expanding global opportunities for its students and strengthening international partnerships.

The delegation also had the chance to visit tourist sites around Cape Coast: Kakum Canopy Walkway and the Elmina Slave Castle. This provided them with an experience of Ghana’s rich culture and heritage.

The visit provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange, and the exploration of new avenues for collaboration. It underscored UCC’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that enrich academic experiences and prepare students for a global future.
