The 2026 edition of the International Symposium on West African Studies (ISWAS) will be held in Ghana this November, under the theme:

“New Quality Productive Forces for West African Digital Governance, Transformation & Sustainability.”

The symposium aims to provide a high-level interdisciplinary platform for scholars, policymakers, industry leaders, and students to explore how technology-driven, green, and digital innovations can advance governance modernisation and sustainable development across West Africa.

  1. Digital Governance, Smart Public Administration & Institutional Security
  2. Digital Industrial Economy, Regional Integration & Innovative Ecosystems
  3. Digital Livelihoods, Green Transition & Human Capital Development
  4. China–West Africa Digital Development Cooperation

Important Dates:

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: August 31, 2026
  • Notification of Acceptance: Before September 15, 2026
  • Symposium Dates: November 2026
  • Full Paper Submission: Within two months after the conference

Submission Guidelines: Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts (250–300 words) outlining research objectives, methodology, key findings, and implications. Submissions should be sent to cwasuestc@163.com.

All accepted papers will be included in the official Conference Proceedings, and selected outstanding papers will be recommended for publication in indexed journals (SCI/SSCI).

We encourage members of the university community to participate actively whether through paper submissions, panel discussions, or attendance, to contribute to shaping a digitally empowered and sustainable future for West Africa.
